What is our vision for a Birth and Family Resource Center?
A birth center is a warm, intimate place where mothers can birth their babies under the care of a birth team that embraces normal birth. In addition to providing maternity services and newborn healthcare, the birth center would function as a family resource center providing programs and resources for new and expecting parents such as one-on-one counseling, lectures from birth professionals, documentary films, and workshops on topics such as breastfeeding, car seat safety, and baby wearing. The center would have a lending library stocked with books, magazines, CDs, and DVDs. It would also host community groups and services, including independent childbirth education classes.
Having a birth and family resource center will provide a place to continue and expand these vital services to the community--a great start for healthy babies and well-adjusted parents.
Childbirth Resource Network is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving birth and early parenting experiences by providing families with information and support to make fully informed decisions.
